Growing Up

One day, you are trotting in your shoes That glimmer with light in those heels.  A pink frock for your birthday, A cake that says you just turned 5.  A skipping rope, a GI-Joe  Is all that you need in life.  Life was complete with those people  People who made you smile.  Dad, Mum and your little brother Running about doing everything you need.  All shimmers like gold and platinum Life could never get better.  A bunch of friends in your colony Who you thought would never leave your side. Trying to please people  Was the least of our concerns.  Homework was a piece of cake  Studying was never that difficult.  Home to me was my world A world that had no boundaries.  A whole new world waited for me  But I could not care less.  Then came a time when everything changed A change that I could not accept. But with time and space I got to adapt Adapt to a whole new me.  "Me" shifted to "I" The superego took over.  The new "I" hurt people The new "I" hurt

Story of my Life

One fine morning, I realize "I am old enough now. I know what I want". I decide to send a message in a bottle  To God, the only one who could get my dreams To come to life, to spread some joy.  He, who knew what I wanted Gave me the same.  As a teenager, I did not know  How I was to handle the overwhelmed feeling And gave way to a lot of indulgence. Love as a feeling was my only goal  To achieve; both to give and receive.  Sadly, I did not know the difference  Paving way to a lot of pit-holes  Not knowing what was in it for me.  Life as I knew it then Took me through a roller coaster ride. A ride that, till date will never forget  A ride that changed my life  A ride that forced me to face reality.  A journey through the best and the worst  A journey that made me insensitive. A journey that caused havoc in my life  A journey that gradually settled Reminding me of my foolishness and wrong choices. There had to be something I could change A change that would never take me b

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime

I absolutely have no idea why I have given this piece of writing such a heading. It is nowhere close to what am going to be talking about. Well, not directly at least. This is just an emotional outburst. So people reading it, do understand that this was written when I was going through one of the worst mood swings ever and you’ll know why in the lines further to come. People say things happen for a reason. There is a reason why I chose to work in CUPA. One of the obvious reasons was, I wanted to always be around dogs and help them with whatever they needed. Not for a moment in my entire life did I realize that this decision was going to change my perception about life. I might sound supremely philosophical, but yes, it did happen to me. Otherwise I won’t be writing this. Moving on, this one month, I had the time of my life. I am in the last week of my internship, officially. I am going to continue working with the NGO because they need help. Since

Life, As we call it

Once you are born Into this big, big world You enter a confusing maze- Something you need to figure out Life, as we call it Once upon a time You are just a child The next minute, an adult With a big responsibility at hand – Life, as we call it One day you are free Like a bird flying high The next day you are pulled down Further into complexities – Life, as we call it One minute you are so sure Of what to expect next The next minute you are thrusted Back to square one – Life, as we call it One minute you are happy Of all the wonders around you The next minute you are pushed back To reality that might be nasty – Life, as we call it Life, as we call it Might be unfair at most times Somehow that is what makes it exciting Giving us the power to deal with, Life, as we call it

Communication.. To me

Communication is interaction with our fellow human beings, our internal and external environments. It is a social process that involves two or more people from the society who have the need to express their thoughts and feelings about certain issues. We as humans need to relate to the society unlike animals. This way, communication gives us the leeway to do so. Communication can be termed as the centripetal force through which we create social realities. Social reality includes the concept of the Self, community, institutions and cultures. This radial representation justifies the fact that communication is omnipresent. Whether done consciously or otherwise, we tend to communicate through words, written mode or through silence i.e. non-communication Non communication is a type of communication where the sender does not receive any response from the receiver. The way I perceive it to be is that, there can be two reasons for this non-responsive behavior from the receiver’s part: • He/s

The Theory of TV and Human Behaviour

We as humans, when we think of television, the first thing that flashes into our minds is the different programs we watch frequently or something that has a positive or a negative impact on us. For instance, whenever I see the word ‘racial’ all that I can think of are the racial attacks on Indians in Australia. To come to think of it, we have actually decided that the attacks are purely of racial nature alone after the number of times the word RACIAL ATTACKS has been flashed on our television screens. Therefore, I have decided to look at the impact of television on the society and how it has conditioned us to think the way it wants us to. The theory is based on Marx’s concept of false consciousness and other sociological concepts. The theory is named as “TV AND HUMAN BEHAVIOUR”. The reason for this title is that, we as humans behave and react according to the events demonstrated on TV, either according to it or completely against it. Som

As I.. Part II

As I sit by your side I feel a rush A feeling never felt before Making me want to compromise As I stare into your eyes I see that sparkle A twinkle never seen before Making me want to want you more As I walk by your side I hold your firm hand A touch never felt before Making me want to cuddle As I hear you talk Words pouring out randomly A need never felt before Making me want to listen more As I listen to you singing A tune so romantic A gush of emotion Making me want to cry As I lie on your shoulder Listening to your heartbeat A new level of comfort arises Making me want to be this way Forever..

When..

When you cry the first time You lost your favorite pencil box Dad would be right next to your bed Consoling you, making you feel better than ever When you get straight A’s In your 2nd grade report card Grandma would be waiting right at the doorstep Waiting to give the biggest hug ever When you fall off the bicycle While learning how to ride it Mamma would rush to you to embrace you Making sure you don’t feel the pain When you feel like having your favorite candy After a hard day at school Gramps would run to get them Making you feel like a little princess When you have had the worst day ever And you need someone to just listen to you Your BFF would call you Asking you if everything was okay Now, here I am With none of these people around me Alone I stand With the deepest fears inside of me Still searching for substitutes But deep inside I know No one could ever replace them For I love them the most

"Planned"

India got independence on the 15th August, 1947. Since then, there have been attempts made by the government for the country to develop in all spheres – social, economic and cultural. Most of these attempts have been successful. One of the highlights and the most important creation by our Central Government was the formulation of the Planning Commission on March 1950. Ever since its inception, the Commission has been meticulously planning out the National Five Year plans – these are the government documents which aim at triggering off development in every sector possible. Every plan focuses on one sector in particular and the rest in general. Each five year plan has a set of aims and objectives to be followed, a rationale and the means through which development is going to be achieved. As of now the Government is following the 11th five year plan – April 2008 to March 2013. However, what led to the government coming up with the idea of have Five Year Plans was the Gandhian Meta Mod
